Definition of the Association

  1. The Association is an academic organization open to all registered students of the Department of Forestry and Wood Technology, Federal University of Technology, Akure.
  2. The headquarters shall be situated on the main campus of the University.

Aims and Objectives
The aims and objectives of the Association are to:

  1. promote co-operation among Forestry and Wood Technology students and to work for the progress, advancement and uplifting of forestry and wood profession in Nigeria;
  2. maintain a good relationship and cooperation with other National and International Associations and Organisations of Forestry and Wood Technology in pursuit of common interest;
  3. foster mutual co-existence and understanding among members of the Association and between them and other students for the development of a healthy and resourceful community;
  4. defend consistently, the right of all members and discourage any form of discrimination on any ground such as places of birth, origin, sex, religion, status, ethnic or linguistic association or tiers;
  5. protect the legitimate interest of members on social security; and
  6. sponsor lectures, film shows, social activities, debates and exhibition etc. reflecting Forestry and Wood Technology activities.

Rights and Membership

  1. The Association members shall be students of the Department of Forestry and Wood Technology, Federal University of Technology, Akure.
  2. The interest of members shall be protected by the Association.
  3. Every member shall have the right to make proposal or suggestion pertaining to the day-to-day running of the Association except otherwise stated.
  4. Every member of the association shall have the right to criticize constructively any suggestion proposal of the Association.
  5. Members shall have the right to vote and be voted for in any election of the Association except otherwise stated.
  6. Life membership shall be granted by law abiding members.
  7. Members shall have the power to a congress by obtaining the signatures of one third of the members of the Association.   

Privileges
Association members shall have the privilege to:

  1. Obtain on first registration, a copy of Association’s constitution.
  2. Use the facilities provided and recognized the Association.
  3. Wear or display the official colour of the Association.
  4. Participate at meetings and activities recognized by the Association.
  5. Vote and be voted for in approved Association elections.
  6. Append signatures to/or vote at referendum extraordinary general meetings on approval of an amended constitution or any proposal that is considered very important by the Association.
